Join The Nature Conservancy at Hurlbert Swamp Preserve in Stewartstown, NH on October 24th and 25th. Volunteers are needed to help repair the bog bridges leading into an ancient high elevation northern white cedar-balsam fir swamp. Hurlbert Swamp looks and feels its age. Estimated to be 10,000 years old, this high-elevation swamp is unusual due to the predominance of northern white cedar, a boreal species that is at the southeastern limit of its range in northern New Hampshire. The Nature Conservancy will provide tools, gloves and lunch. No experience necessary. Come for an hour or help all day. TNC staff will be on site from 9:00-5:00 on October 24th and from 9:00-2:00 on October 25, 2017.
