Are you looking for a rewarding way to spend time on New Hampshire’s beaches and contribute to a study of how beaches change over time? The Coastal Research Volunteers are seeking beach profile monitors. These volunteers work with a small team to “adopt” one of New Hampshire’s beaches. Each month, they collect data on the contour of their beach to build up a picture of how sand erodes and builds up along the coastline. Data collected by volunteers will be analyzed by professional geologists and made available for municipal and regional planners and beach managers.
A two hour training is required for participation, scheduled for:
Monday, November 13, 2017, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Hampton Beach State Park Seashell Complex South Pavilion in Hampton, NH. After attending this training, volunteers will be prepared to serve in any of these roles in the New Hampshire beach profiling program. Lunch will be provided at the training. Youth under 18 are welcome with an adult.
