Teens Learn Trail Skills in the Upper Valley

Published: May 1, 2017

The Upper Valley Trails Alliance will run Outdoor Odyssey, a Trail Corps for Upper Valley High School students for its fifth summer. High School students can sign up for 1, 2, 3, or 4 weeks that the Corps will operate (although most applicants will only get placed in one week). The Corps will run from 8:30 am – 4:30 or 5 pm Monday-Friday each week. The Corps will learn trail building and trail maintenance skills while working on several trails around the Upper Valley. In addition to work, there will also be fun, outdoor adventures. The Corps might go canoeing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking or on an Adventure Course. While there is work to be done, the Corps will learn outdoor skills and have fun in between!

Corps members must be at least 14 years old by July 1, 2017 and have completed 8th grade. Participants must be willing to work hard (8:30 am - 5pm each day), learn new skills, meet new people, and have fun. It's a great way to get community service hours (40 hours for one week of the program), plus members receive a weekly stipend of $125.

Are you an energetic, enthusiastic high school student in the Upper Valley? Apply now! Applications are due by May 15, 2017.
